A number of the Botanical Garden's partner organizations will share their love, passion, and expertise for specific plant species such as mushrooms, rhododendrons, hostas, daylilies, bonsai and penjing, and roses. On the market are little-known and collector plants, heritage vegetable varieties, bulbs and original garden accessories. A word of note for crossing the border: Plants travelling in to the United States must be accompanied by a waiver — get one at the onsite Canadian Food Inspection kiosk. Please contact for more information

SEEDY SATURDAY GALIANO ISLAND!

Take a trip to beautiful Galiano and join in on the very first Seedy Saturday on this island. The event will take place at the South Community Hall on February 20th from 10-2. We have great seed donations from the Garden club, local growers coming to swap, an opportunity to order from local seed savers and a silent auction. Everyone welcome! Qualicum Beach Seedy Saturday has lost its place as the season starter now that Denman Island has gotten on board; their's was held on January 30.

QBSS 2010 had 73 vendors and 2092 patrons. A very successful day!

Discovered a whole new way

Comment by janecoady, February 7, 2010 at 13:00

Discovered a whole new way of gardening yesterday! As I was preparing virgin ground to become this years potato patch, I was joined by my 6 chickens. They got right to work in the freshly truned soil, it will be way easier to go back to after their efforts as their scratching was breaking up the soil and loosening the roots around the weeds. Now if I could just keep them where I need them to work, and stop them finding and digging up the fresh daffodil shoots!

Watched "Get Up and Grow" on

Watched "Get Up and Grow" on Channel 358 CHEK last week and Phebee Noble(please excuse spelling) was on the show. She called one of her shrubs Carriage Japonica and said that it was in the rose family. It had beautiful double yellow flowers. I cannot find it on the internet. Would you be able to clarify this for me and tell me where I could purchase it. Love your show.
