1. Sharpen and clean your tools: pruners, shovels, edgers and lawnmowers. Sharp tools make the jobs easier on your back and arms and do a better job to boot.
2. Oil hinges, including garage and shed doors, loppers and pruners.
3. Repair leaks in hoses and irrigation systems.
4. Wash, repair or replace solar lamps.
5. Clean birdbaths.
6. Compost debris piles.
7. Wash out planters and containers.
8. Remove summer annuals from containers and nestle in spring bulbs.
9. Dig up any plants that may have been lost, discard in compost if disease free.
10. Stir up that compost pile; add some molasses to help it break down.
11. Get seed, bulb and plant orders in early before supplies run out. If you have a must-have wish list, contact your local garden centre early for special orders.
12. Weed, cut back and mulch – yes, this can be done until the snow comes!
13. Wash tool-shed windows; repair roof or gutters as needed.
14. Organize the shed, and donate anything you haven’t used in three seasons.
15. Dispose of expired chemicals or paints at your recycling centre.
16. Repair, replace or pump up flat tires on wheelbarrows and lawnmowers.
17. Service large equipment (remember those oil changes!).
18. Take an inventory of supplies and shop for organic fertilizer, gloves, plant ties, weed-trimmer line and plant stakes so you will have them on hand.

Would like to suggest to all

We found two tools on the internet last fall that has made our job faster, easier, and safer and we have saved money on our water bills while we added more "stuff" to our compost pile and mulch for our plants and garden. Check out these tools: 1) Gutter Clutter Buster for inside the gutters and 2) MarxOff for the outside of the gutters. When you are finished you will see exactly what I mean. Now, on to my next job, cleaning all those garden tools, after digging up the ground and preparing for planting my veggies. Warmest wishes to all!
