Hyacinth

Did you know you can force bulbs to bloom early by giving them the cold treatment?

Most potted forced bulbs need 12 to 16 weeks at temperatures 3 to 9°C (38 to 48°F) to be fooled into thinking winter has come and gone. When ready, potted bulbs should be brought into the warmth to begin the blooming process, which takes a few more weeks on average.

For more information on forcing hyacinth, see our step-by-step guide. A forcing timetable by type of bulb can also be found here.
